Dr Itumeleng Shale 

is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Procedural and Adjectival Law at the National University of Lesotho and an attorney for the Courts of Lesotho. She holds an LLM in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa from the University of Pretoria and a PhD in Law from Wits University. She is a member of the African Judges and Jurists Forum (AJJF). Shale has provided training for the judiciary and security institutions in Lesotho for over ten years. 

She has also provided technical assistance to governments and Civil Society Organisations of Lesotho, South Africa, Zambia, Botswana and Malawi in drafting state party reports and shadow reports to human rights treaty bodies (African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights and the UN Human Rights Committee). Her 17 years of teaching experience is complemented by a series of scientific publications in journals and book chapters on human rights standards, constitutionalism and independence of the judiciary, among others.
